East Java is one of the provinces with a better environmental quality index when compared to several other provinces in Java. However, the environmental quality standards in East Java are still below the "good" category, so a study is needed to improve the quality of the environment in East Java by prioritizing the SDGs principle in regional government policies. As far as the proposal team's investigation has been concerned, there are still few studies or research that discuss the application of the SDGs principle in regional development in East Java, therefore it can be assumed that the difficulty of East Java in achieving environmental feasibility is caused by one of the reasons being the lack of application of the SDGs principles. By using a qualitative approach and through interview and FGD instruments, the proposal team will examine the application of the SDGs principle to environmental policies (ecology) which have the object of research locus of environmental departments in Surabaya and Trenggalek. The proposal team also carries the concept of glocalization as the main analytical tool for the study of SDGs adaptation to each region studied. With an in-depth study of the application of the SDGs principles, it is hoped that this research will be able to become the state of the art of research with a scientific background and focus on the social humanities.
