Abstract

The rise of new tourist destinations in Trenggalek Regency has affected older attractions, such as Ngerit Stone Park. While the park initially attracted large crowds, particularly during holiday seasons, current monthly visitor numbers average only 70 to 100, with some days seeing no visitors at all. This decline is largely due to the lack of innovative activities and attractions that would draw tourists back. This study aims to identify the potential for canoe tourism and instagramable attraction at Ngerit Stone Park by evaluating five key aspects of tourism development attraction, accessibility, amenities, and ancillary. The study also analyses factors that support and hinder tourism development in this geological area. A descriptive qualitative methodology was used for this research. Data collection involved interviews with key informants, including the Ngerit Stone Park tourism management, as well as field observations and documentation. The findings reveal that Ngerit Stone Park holds significant potential for development into a canoe tourism destination and an instagramable attraction, while preserving its geological heritage. However, improvements are needed in the park’s facilities and infrastructure, as well as in the condition of the access roads, which are currently damaged and detract from the visitor experience. Government support in upgrading facilities, accommodation, and access is crucial to increasing tourist numbers, which in turn would positively impact the local economy.
