In today’s competitive job market, a well-organized self-description information system can significantly aid students in determining careers that align with their academic background. Recognizing this need, this article delves into the analysis and design of a student self-description information system aimed at facilitating efficient data management for students. The design process begins with a needs analysis to ensure the system meets all user requirements. The database design uses the Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD) to clearly depict relationships between entities. ERD helps visualize data interactions within the system, ensuring data integrity and consistency. For system design, the UML ICONIX method is used to simplify complex UML diagrams. UML ICONIX focuses on domain analysis, robust diagrams, dynamic model design, and static model design. This method produces a design that is easier to understand and implement, reducing errors during development. System testing is conducted through User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure the system meets end-user needs and expectations. UAT involves end users evaluating the system’s functionality and usability. Valuable feedback from UAT is used to make improvements before the full launch. The result of this article is a comprehensive database and system design to support student self-descriptions. This system is expected to make managing student data more efficient, accurate, and reliable. It also provides ease for students in accessing and updating their personal information and helps campus administration manage student data. Through a systematic approach, this article significantly aids students in identifying careers that align with their academic disciplines.
