Abstract

Differences in the Use of Fogging and High Pressure Sprayer in Controlling Caterpillar Pests (Calliteara horsfieldii Saunders) on Oil Palm Plants at PT. Socfindo Kebun Aek Loba. The purpose of this study is to examine the differences in controlling caterpillar pests using fogging and High Pressure Sprayer on oil palm plants at PT. Socfindo Kebun Aek Loba based on the level of effectiveness, cost and impact on the environment. This study was carried out from October 2023 to June 2024. Data collection methods were observation, interviews and documentation methods. The data analysis method uses a two independent sample t-test. As for the results obtained from this study, firstly, there is a difference in the average level of effectiveness of using fogging tools and High Pressure Sprayers to control caterpillar pests (Calliteara horsfieldii Saunders). Where the difference in the level of effectiveness of using a High Pressure Sprayer is 12.25% higher than fogging. Second, there is a difference in the average cost of using fogging and a High Pressure Sprayer with a difference of IDR 281,884 where the cost of using a High Pressure Sprayer is cheaper than using fogging. Third, there is a difference in the impact on the environment of fogging and High Pressure Sprayer, where the impact on the environment caused by High Pressure Sprayer is lower than fogging.
