The Influence of Farmer Characteristics on the Digitalization of Durian Farming in Wonosalam District, Jombang Regency

This study aims to analyze the influence of farmer characteristics on the digitalization of durian farming in Wonosalam District, Jombang Regency. The analysis used in this study is a regression model with the help of the Structural Equation Model (SEM), The respondents of this study were 85 durian farmers. Data collection was carried out primarily using a questionnaire. The independent variables in this study are farmer characteristics with indicators including age, education, length of farming, land area, and motivation, while the dependent variable is agricultural digitalization with indicators of Relative advantage, Compability, Complexity, Triability, and Observability. The results of the analysis show an R-Square value of 0.675, which indicates that farmer characteristics can explain around 67.5% of the variation in agricultural digitalization. Hypothesis testing produces P-values of 0.000 and T-values of 11.934, confirming that there is a positive and significant influence between farmer characteristics and digitalization. Education and farming experience are key factors driving the adoption of digital technology, while challenges such as lack of access and understanding of technology remain obstacles. This study recommends increasing farmer capacity through continuous education and training to maximize the benefits of digitalization in agriculture.
